Indian Cricket

Haven't typed down for quite sometime.

Being more of an avid watcher on what plays an important role in our day to day lives than others, cricket has always taken a back seat. However, being an Indian, cricket rules our lives too. It has emotions percolating deep into our bones.
Honestly, I've found more avid followers of the game in my workspace since India started losing against England this year in the test matches and even more as India started losing against Australia. I didn't find much of voices following in the game when India won the World Cup. Probably they've been in their deep 'slumber'.

However, today I watched a talk show on NDTV.I've attached a link for others to see.
I was strangely watching Niranjan Shah (BCCI chief) responding to questions. It seems quite an honest admission now, this is more than a game. It's a money making machine. Unfortunately, the brandnames which have been the money making machine for the Indian Board are performing poorly. The brandnames still needs to be milked according to the board.

No purists in the game around the globe would support the move. But, money speaks.

We're in dangeer. Lover of the game are denied by the Indian Board of Cricket Control a fair chance to love the sport.

Hirak Raja-r Desh-e: Relevance

Satyajit Ray filmed his second film on the Goopy-Bagha Series way back in 1980 which magically revealed the ongoing and everlasting social set-up not merely in Bengal but globally.
I normally have a tendency to see the film time and again in order to test the message of the film over changing time. I must admit that I'm defeated every moment I observe the film with the power of it's relevance as I'm a bit adamant that message of a film changes over time.
Today, while I've been observing the film I found another strange coincidence. When the King was about to celebrate the ceremony of coronation of his bust to be attended by dignitaries of kingdoms around, he made it a point to remove the poor and hungry from the shanties and keep them in places which would not be observable to the dignitaries. It's a strange coincidence. During the Commonwealth Games, Sheila Dixit moved the beggars and homeless to special places in order to make the streets free of them. There has been a huge media coverage on this issue. There's so stark a resemblance to what we see in this movie that believable looks unbelievable .
The inventions of the scientist possibly reveals the acts of Heisenberg, Neils Bohr and Atto Hahn...during the World Wars, but the film saw the same scientist act otherwise. I'm waiting to observe the phase reversal of the scientist in today's realm.
Media is giving blows to the kingdoms today. I want to see the media acting as the 'teácher' today and leading the revolution and not otherwise.

Bengal, Nearing Assembly Polls: Another Black Period

Being a Bengali and born and brought up in Bengal it's difficult to stay away from the fate of Bengal as an Indian. Bengal has been diligently taken to task in the post independence period by several governments of multiple political colors under state and union. The shades and process has been different.
At the age of 18 I first wrote for a Bengali Little Magazine that when my father today discusses political aspects of Bengal I find it difficult as political truth need not be debated anymore. I understood then how Bengal has been taken to task. I'm possibly a representative of the young minds then who finds the same conclusion. I understand the sentiment of the generation of my father and I also understand their sentiments regarding the theoretical debate.
The above paragraph seems to be a bit irrelevant with regard to the topic but still has a relevance with regard to the fact that understanding over time is a relevant process.
In the last 5 years we find a consistent voice in the democratic process for a change of political party. The change is not regard to any ideology but a 'consistent' frustration within people over time with regard to aspects which dominate day to day lives of people.
Is is a probable change of political color at the state very positive and would it take place? Would it change common people's lives?
What could be the effective scenario to bring in an effective change?
These are mere questions waiting for revelation and debate. Confusion in mind is backed by a mere hopelessness amidst a zeal to get some light from positive debate and fruitful thinking. Just prove me wrong and give me evidence that Bengal has some light ahead of this tunnel.

Commonwealth Games & Show Theme

Commonwealth Group of Nations are what? Those that had essentially once belonged to the British Empire at some point of time. Commonwealth Games is a floor for sports-persons of these nations to show off their skills.
Is it an Olympic? No. It's just ultimately a memoir of British Token of Empire-hood and a celebration of the same.
Do we really need to hold Commonwealth Games or is it still relevant? Yes, it is. Reason: Simple. It's a gateway to organize Olympics tomorrow. So, is the game to really document the ability of sports-persons...their talent and performance or is it just a business affair? Dual effect. This dual thing is however under balanced and more drifted towards business affair and global political control. However, does the Commonwealth Group of Nations ever considered the necessity of this game to be held in order to keep the memoir of the British Empire alive? No, they are smart too. They need to en cash on the business front today.
Fine. Who's going to gain out these games monetarily? Supposed to be the hosting country. That's been the fight for at international forums and global political arena to organize the games at least 8-12 years before actually hosting the games. Justified on the business sense because sport-persons and their records are there for 'history only'. Whose money is invested to organize the games? 'People's Money' of the hosting country. What do 'people' have in return? 'National Pride' for hosting the game. How long? How long are people going to hear these non-sense?
2010 Commonwealth Games are nearly there to begin in New-Delhi. Indian Media has started reporting various scams that has likely to have taken place in organizing the games. Various debates going on at various circles on various forums of media channels. I've just one question. Why blame just 'Suresh Kalmadi & his team'. Who do we feel could have done a better job without 'corruption'? Any domestic cat when left in the wilderness becomes 'wild'.
I'm in pain like any other people. Let's start the lessons of 'Anticorruption' in Schools today so that in 30 years time we have a slightly better generation coming up.

N.B. : 'People' here mean those who are not on internet like me and those who struggle to get their ends meet as well as people like me too who was not asked before deciding to host the games as I've too toil hard to earn my money and would not like to be mis-used by my government.

Silly

I watched the interview of British Prime-Minister - Cameron today with Prannay Ray of NDTV. I really felt it silly when he said that 'terrorism' is something Pakistan is working on. 'Yes' Pakistan is working on terrorism. 'Yes' they are working on it but what about the 'credible' action as politician's say? Does 'Wiki leaks' need to prove something new? Does anyone need to prove that CIA had links (read as direct credible action) in creating this so called terrorism in Northern Pakistan and Afghanistan way back to tackle the 'Red Army'?
Today US (essentially) fights the war in Afghanistan to defeat the 'terrorism' that it once created. Unbelievable isn't it? If ethics is in question, it's US which is unethical since way back. Today Cameron voices the same old call....Pakistan is doing a good job but they need to do more. How long are we going to utter the same statement today and the global community (understanding is clear who are involved within the global community)?
We're just skapegoats.

"The Fact of the Matter is"

'The Fact of the matter is' is seemingly an interesting used phrase these days in Indian Politics. I find Pranab Mukherjee using quite often to bury some hard facts as the 'Fact of the matter is' and today I found Mani Shankar Aiyar using the same phrase in NDTV interview conducted regarding Indo-Pak diplomatic relations and Fuel Price Hike in order to bury some hard facts again.

The fact of the matter is - it's not really a fact of the matter. It's a phrase which is being used in all sorts of negative assessment which one can neither assume off nor can observe any tangible value.

The fact of the matter is - we keep listening to these explanations quoting a pharase within the language in a malicious way. Red Card to both Pranab Mukherjee and Mani Shankar Aiyar.

Bhopal Tragedy - after 26 years

Bhopal Tragedy when it happened, I was a kid...just 7-8 years old. I've been hearing my parents reading newspaper and expressing grief over the news published in the newspaper. I remember just this much.
I've at times bothered when grown up regarding the incident and at times felt that it's as good as Hiroshima holocaust. However, my opinion has been as good as BP today portrays in it's website and other portals regarding the GOM incident.
However, as on date when media is covering the incident in details and analysing the detailed facts pertaining to the incident, I ( again dependent on journalist's wisdom and truth) start to believe the truth. I've casted vote just once...in a municipal election 16 years back. I just voted because I obtained the voting rights then. I actually didn't vote as I didn't find the right candidate. After the instance, I didn't find any further opportunity to cast my vote as I've been away from my constituency and honestly, didn't find the urge to do so. I truly didn't find the urge to vote for the 'World's largest democracy'. Today, when I see Arjun Singh (as reported by media) being one of the biggest responsibles for exporting Anderson ( do not however know how many culpable names more are involved), I feel that democracy is being suppressed over individual wisdom and wishes. However, still, 26 years after the incident I came to know from media the involvement of 'people behind scene' and the 'truth' which cannot be proved in court of law because 'laws' prevent the truth. It's also a feeling of understanding of the winning note of 'democracy' in India as media has at least come down in 26 years to highlight the truth which the court could not establish to the fullest potential due to formulation of laws.
It's also been a clearcut understanding developed that 'Imperialism' is still the rule. Whether it being the US which expects the case is not opened up any further to allow them to avoid stronger constraints in the Nuke Deal or it could be within Indian Politics.
